Introduction
GoldView is a gold portfolio tracker developed and maintained by Nesin Technologies LLP. This privacy policy explains how the app handles information when you use it.
Data we do not collect
GoldView has no accounts and no cloud sync. We do not collect, store on our servers, or transmit to ourselves:
- Names, email addresses, or account credentials — there is no sign-up
- Your gold items, photos, or receipts
- Usage statistics or analytics
- Crash logs or diagnostic data
- Location, contacts, or files outside the app's own storage
Data stored on your device
The app stores the following data locally on your device, in a private on-device database. This data never leaves your device:
- Gold items — name, type, purity, weight, purchase details, prices, charges, seller, storage location, and notes for each item you add.
- Photos and receipts — images you attach to items, stored in the app's private storage.
- Settings — country, city, currency, custom purities, and your app-lock preference.
- Cached gold prices — the most recently fetched rates, so the app works offline and shows the last known price.
If you enable the biometric app lock, the lock credential is held in Android's secure keystore. It never leaves the device.
Network requests
The app connects to the internet for exactly one purpose: fetching current and historical gold prices for your selected country and city. These requests contain no account, identifier, or portfolio data — just the country, city, purity, and number of days of history requested. Like any HTTP request, your IP address is technically visible to the server that serves it.
Permissions
GoldView requests the following Android permissions. Each is used exclusively for its stated purpose:
- INTERNET — to fetch gold prices. This is the app's only network use.
- CAMERA — only when you choose to photograph an item or receipt. Photos stay on your device.
- USE_BIOMETRIC — only if you enable the app lock, to unlock GoldView with your fingerprint or face.
Third-party services
Gold prices are served by the GoldView price service. Google Play Services may process standard update-check information per Google's Privacy Policy. No advertising networks, analytics platforms, or crash reporting services are integrated.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade any information. Since the app does not collect personal data on its servers, there is no personal data to share.
Data retention and deletion
All app data is stored locally on your device. You can delete everything at any time by:
- Using Settings → Data Management → Clear All Data inside GoldView, or
- Uninstalling the app
Because there is no cloud backup, data deleted this way cannot be recovered. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
Children's privacy
GoldView is a financial tracking tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under data protection laws such as the GDPR and CCPA, you have rights regarding your personal data. Since GoldView does not collect personal data on its servers, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, delete, or port. If you believe otherwise, contact us.
Changes to this policy
If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
